Company Competition Rules

Company Rules for Competitions

1. Always make it a rule to arrive 2 hours prior to performance time with hair and makeup completely ready to dance. Some competitions get ahead of schedule and we need to always be prepared for these situations
2. Please wear your Legacy WarmUps to cover your costumes at all times. If you do not have a Legacy WarmUp, then please wear something over your costume to prevent spills or getting makeup on your costumes. It is always a good idea to only allow sprite or water for drinks on competition days.
3. I will assign one or multiple team captains per competition. The captain(s) will be responsible for accepting any awards that we may win. No one else should approach the presenter unless requested for the entire team to be recognized.
4. We will always show good sportsmanship. This rule has always been very important to me. If you are a soloist, please make sure you always congratulate the other soloists competing with you. Notice the word “with” and not “against”. Dance competitions are very tough to judge. We should not discriminate against someone else’s opinion of us or others. We will respect the judges opinions at all times.
5. How we act in the dressing rooms, on stage and in the audience will create a reflection of Legacy Dance Studio. We will not tolerate any student’s or parent’s misbehavior. This is a ZERO tolerance rule. You will be asked to leave the team if you intentionally disgrace the team by misbehavior. Never EVER talk about another team in disrespect….you never know who is listening to you.
6. I request 2 hour arrival before each performance so that I can take the team and stretch with them and we will walk through our performance. Parents, please understand this is a time that I need with them and I need their full attention. I request that no parents view our rehearsals while preparing at competitions. The students are not paying attention to me if their parents, grandparents and aunts and uncles are all gathered around at our rehearsal time. They must be focused during this time of preparation. Thanks in advance for understanding.
7. If you are running late, please call Shawn’s cell (615)708-0194 or Janie’s cell at (615)708-0936 to let us know. Please put these numbers in your cell phones. You never know when you may need to contact us to find out where the team is rehearsing if you are running late, but please try not to run late.
8. Label all your belongings. The dressing rooms get crazy and things get misplaced very frequently. Our costumes are custom made so if would be impossible to create another one.

Everyone has worked so hard. I am so proud of everything that has been accomplished. Legacy Dance has been blessed with the best students ever!
Parents, thank you so so very much for working endless hours on the costumes and bringing your children to the weekend practice times. You are the greatest!
Let’s all pull together as a team during this competition season and enjoy our good times together. In the end, it’s always about watching our students mature and building their self-esteem to become a confident adult.
With all my heart! Shawn
