Tryout Info

bombshells  this tryout info does not apply to you but still like for you to know and see information that everyone else sees:

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer! Can't believe it's time for our 2012 Summer Camp and Tryouts! We are so excited to begin a new year! We hope everyone is excited as we are to work hard in 2012 and really shine in 2013. We are working on getting a tumbling program established but do not have that finalized yet. Alex will continue to be our ballet teacher and we are hoping for a big commitment from our 3 oldest teams to step up and work hard in her classes. Team Workshops for our 3 older teams will continue on a mandatory basis. Please wear your pink tinks, leo, hair in bun and pink ballet shoes as Alex as requested when we begin back.

Just to clear up a few questions about tryouts:

1. You can wear any color you want to tryouts. Be creative as you would like to be, but please understand that we do not add points or take points away based on what you are wearing at tryouts. You will be judged on your dancing abilities and performance abilities only.

2. Solos, duet/trios and small groups WILL BE selected from the TOP scores, and NOT based on the students who have the best tryout dance attire or because they take private lessons. This is not a popularity contest. This level of dance takes complete commitment and understanding that the student wants to commit to dance as their NUMBER 1 activity. It takes students who try to apply the corrections that they are given daily in class and tries not to have be given the same corrections over and over. Performance ability is a major key. You will not get a solo by being reserved with your moves and reserved with your personality. Our very qualified judges who do not work with the students on a daily basis will be responsible for selecting students to fill these slots. We are spending alot of money on hiring qualified judges for the week and on Saturday to make sure the tryouts are handled fairly.

Things that will add points to your tryout scores:

1. Flexibility
2. Good Lines, use your turn out, open your chest, lengthen your neck, REALLY REALLY STRETCH YOUR FEET use the technique Alex and I have work with you all on this summer - Not bent knees and flexed feet and NEVER EVER WALK ON YOUR HEELS.
3. Strong, Alive Arms
4. Personality and performance abilities
5. Knowing your choreographing you learn in the workshop and performing it and not just going through the movements. If you do not know your choreography, this will not be good.
6. If you have any special tricks, work on them to show. Turns, leaps, tumbling
