We are so thrilled to welcome Zach Walker to our 2012 Summer Camp. Zach will be teaching his unique styles of hip hop from his training in Los Angeles and Atlanta. He has appeared on national television and performed in music videos and on stage with artists such as Jimmy Fallon and Lecrae. He is a Monster of Hip Hop Finalist. So thrilled to have Zach at our Summer Camp starting on Monday, August 6th! We have re-worked the schedule a bit to allow Zach to teach one day and come back on Thursday for review and judging. Please see the revised schedule on the website untile Summer Dance 2012 link at the top of our home page. It’s going to be a great week!

Tryout Info
bombshells this tryout info does not apply to you but still like for you to know and see information that everyone else sees:
Hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer! Can't believe it's time for our 2012 Summer Camp and Tryouts! We are so excited to begin a new year! We hope everyone is excited as we are to work hard in 2012 and really shine in 2013. We are working on getting a tumbling program established but do not have that finalized yet. Alex will continue to be our ballet teacher and we are hoping for a big commitment from our 3 oldest teams to step up and work hard in her classes. Team Workshops for our 3 older teams will continue on a mandatory basis. Please wear your pink tinks, leo, hair in bun and pink ballet shoes as Alex as requested when we begin back.
Just to clear up a few questions about tryouts:
1. You can wear any color you want to tryouts. Be creative as you would like to be, but please understand that we do not add points or take points away based on what you are wearing at tryouts. You will be judged on your dancing abilities and performance abilities only.
2. Solos, duet/trios and small groups WILL BE selected from the TOP scores, and NOT based on the students who have the best tryout dance attire or because they take private lessons. This is not a popularity contest. This level of dance takes complete commitment and understanding that the student wants to commit to dance as their NUMBER 1 activity. It takes students who try to apply the corrections that they are given daily in class and tries not to have be given the same corrections over and over. Performance ability is a major key. You will not get a solo by being reserved with your moves and reserved with your personality. Our very qualified judges who do not work with the students on a daily basis will be responsible for selecting students to fill these slots. We are spending alot of money on hiring qualified judges for the week and on Saturday to make sure the tryouts are handled fairly.
Things that will add points to your tryout scores:
1. Flexibility
2. Good Lines, use your turn out, open your chest, lengthen your neck, REALLY REALLY STRETCH YOUR FEET use the technique Alex and I have work with you all on this summer - Not bent knees and flexed feet and NEVER EVER WALK ON YOUR HEELS.
3. Strong, Alive Arms
4. Personality and performance abilities
5. Knowing your choreographing you learn in the workshop and performing it and not just going through the movements. If you do not know your choreography, this will not be good.
6. If you have any special tricks, work on them to show. Turns, leaps, tumbling

Ready, Set, GO!
Here we go again! It's costuming time again! Believe it or Not! One of our seamstresses will be able to do our BombShell, ThunderBoltz and SpitFire Line dance costume right after tryouts! Just want to prepare everyone to be ready to pay your costume deposit soon after tryouts because she will have to have half down to begin the costumes. We are so forutnate to have her company offer to make our costumes. She has cut back on the number of custom costumes but has given us the opportunity to work in at least this line dance with her. Just a heads up to be prepared to move fast after tryouts to get our deposits in and not to miss out on this opportunity! So excited for tryouts!

So proud!
So very proud of all of our Legacy Dance students on a wonderful job at nationals!
Summer Session 2 begins on Monday, July 9th! It is very important to attend summer classes to work on new skills. We have very limited time during the year with choreography and dances that we rarely get opportunities to work on learning new things. We will try to have more day camps as well to work on turning and tricks. Watch the Blogs for these camps. Stretch as much as possible this summer and really use your ballet bands to work on your feet daily.
